Classes at Arlington Dance Academy

Our classes are divided into levels based on age and ability.  Placement in pre-school classes through Level 1 is determined by student age as of September 1.  Placement in Level 2 and above is by teacher recommendation or placement class. Proper placement supports the dancer’s personal growth and technical development.

Students age 9 and older who are new to Arlington Dance Academy with previous dance experience should attend a placement class. Students age 8 and younger should enroll according to our age guidelines and do not need to be evaluated for placement.

Our next placement class will be Tuesday: May 21, 2024 at 6:00pm. Please sign up on the link below if you would like to attend.

Pointe

Pointe is an extended form of ballet. Pointe shoes are made from only paper, fabric, cardboard, and glue. Students en pointe are supporting their own body weight in their feet and ankles. We take safety seriously. A student must reach a certain age and technical level before they are ready for pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are required for pointe classes and must be approved by the instructor. Two ballet classes per week are required for all pointe and pointe preparation classes to help build and maintain strength in the legs, torso, feet and ankles. Pointe students must be enrolled in a pointe preparation class prior to registration in a pointe class and/or receive instructor approval to register.
