Studio Policies
COVID-19:
All classes will be in person for the upcoming year. At this time, face masks are optional in all studios and common areas. Frequent hand washing is encouraged and hand sanitizer is available. The studios, common areas and frequently touched surfaces are cleaned on a regular schedule. All studio spaces are equipped to transfer to Zoom. If the federal, state or local authorities revert to a more restrictive phase of the Restore Illinois Plan and in-person classes are no longer permitted, classes will become 100% online Zoom classes.
Inclement Weather:
The safety of our students, teachers and parents is of utmost concern. If the weather is bad (snow, ice, or dangerously cold), we may cancel classes. Generally, we follow District 25’s weather closures. Sometimes, however, the weather and roads may clear in time for our afternoon classes. Please call the studio or check this Web site for updates. Classes missed because of weather closures may be made up in a similar class according to our make-up policy. Classes will not be rescheduled, and refunds cannot be offered.
Photographs of Students:
From time to time, we may take photographs of students enrolled at the studio. These photographs may be used in our promotional material, social media or website and are for our use only. Please inform the office if you do not want your or your child’s image used.
Parental Involvement:
We encourage parental involvement by sending regular e-newsletters with information about important studio news and events. Please be sure the studio has your current email address on file and read all emails from the studio for important updates. Parents are also invited to observe their dancer at our Parent Observation Week offered each semester. We want parents to observe their child’s progress and to offer encouragement and praise for their accomplishments.
Recital Participation:
Most classes will perform in our annual May recital. Six weeks before the performance, teachers start working on the dances in their classrooms. If a student misses more than 3 times during that six-week period they may not perform in the recital.
Lost Items:
The studio is not responsible for lost items. Please label all belongings. Do not leave valuable items in the dressing area. Items of value may be brought into the classroom while in class. As a courtesy, a lost and found box can be found in the studio’s dressing area.
Early Registration Discount:
There is a 10% discount for registration completed by an issued date each session.
Multiple Class Discount:
Every student pays full price for their first, highest-priced class. Discounts begin with the second class. For each student, we offer a 10% discount for each additional class. The multiple class discount is not applicable to the summer sessions.
Family Discount:
For families, we offer a family discount of 5% off the total tuition for all dancers, after all eligible discounts have been applied.
Payment Plan:
A 3-month payment plan is available with a $25 processing fee per semester. Returned checks are subject to a $30 fee. N/A for the summer session.
Age Guidelines:
Age guidelines are provided for entry level classes. If you have any questions about placement, please contact the studio. Children must be 3 years old the beginning of each semester.
Placement Guidelines: Please see our class placement guidelines here.
Tardiness:
Classes begin on time. Late admittance is at the teacher’s discretion. Students more than 10 minutes late may be asked to observe class.
Missed Classes:
Missed classes should be made up in another, similar class and level during the current semester. Classes not made up will be forfeited.
Make Up Policy :
If you miss a class or a class is canceled due to weather, you can make up your class any time during the current semester in your level or lower. Please call the studio to schedule a make up class.
Refund Policy:
Arlington Dance Academy has a no refund policy. Refunds are not made once a session has begun unless a class has to be cancelled by Arlington Dance Academy. Refunds will not be available if federal, state or local authorities change restrictions that would prohibit in-person classes. In the event we are required to revert to tighter guidelines, we will continue to provide instruction online. Refunds due to ADA cancellations or dropped classes prior to the start of the session will be posted to your online account.
Medical Credits:
In the case of medical condition which prevents a student from dancing and exists for 30 days or more, a credit will be issued under the following conditions: 1) a letter must be presented from a doctor stating the medical condition and the number of days a dancer is unable to participate in class and 2) a credit, determined by the number of days as indicated by the doctor, will be issued and can be used toward tuition for up to one year from date of issue.
In the case of a medical condition which prevents a student from dancing for less than 30 days, dancers should continue to attend and observe their classes so they do not fall behind in the curriculum or dancers can attend make-up classes when they are able to participate again.
Credits expire one year from date of issue and are non-transferable. Credits will be placed on your account and can be used against future payments up to one year from date of issue.
